Upgrade your iPhone 3G's baseband firmware.
We must upgrade your iPhone 3G's cellular radio firmware to the version in iOS 4.0.2 in order to unlock it.
- Download iPhone1,2_4.0.2_8A400_Restore.ipsw.
- Connect your device to a computer with iTunes installed.
- Start iTunes on the computer.
- Click on your device under Devices on the iTunes sidebar.
- Hold down the OptionAlt key on the keyboard and click the Restore button.
- Wait until iTunes has finished restoring your iPhone 3G to iOS 4.0.2

- Check Activate the phone and Enable baseband update.

- Click the blue arrow.
- Select Build.
- Click the blue arrow.
- Put in the 3.9 and 4.6 bootloader files you downloaded earlier when prompted.
- Wait for the firmware file to finish building.
- Follow the instructions to enter DFU mode.
- Once in DFU close PwnageTool and start iTunes.
- Start iTunes on the computer.
- Click on your device under Devices on the iTunes sidebar.
- In iTunes hold the Option key and click Restore.
- Select the custom IPSW file PwnageTool created.
- Sit back and relax while iTunes jailbreaks and unlocks your iPhone. Your phone will boot into BootNeuter first to unlock before rebooting back into the normal mode.

- Click on your device under Devices on the iTunes sidebar.
- In iTunes hold the Alt key and click Restore.
- Select the custom IPSW file sn0wbreeze created.
- Once the restore is complete open the ultrasnow icon on your device to unlock.
Unlock your device.
- Open Settings from the Home screen.
- Tap General.
- Tap Auto-Lock.
- Tap Never.
- Push the home button to go back to the homescreen on your device.
- Tap the Cydia icon on your device. Go through any initial setup and wait for it to finish updating and downloading packages.
- Tap Search in Cydia.
- Type BootNeuter into the search bar.
- Tap BootNeuter from BigBoss.
- Tap Install on the top right.
- Tap Confirm on the top right.
- Push the home button to go back to the homescreen and then open BootNeuter.
- After BootNeuter has determined your current settings, select Neuter and Unlock.
- Tap Flash on the top-right corner and do not disturb your device until the process is finished.
Unlock your device.
