Update your device.

  1. Connect your device to a computer with iTunes installed.
  2. Start iTunes on the computer.
  3. Click on your device under Devices on the iTunes sidebar.
  4. Click the Update button.
  5. Follow all prompts.

Currently, we don't have instructions written for the specific outdated iOS version you requested, so we advise you to update to the latest version.

  1. Connect your device to a computer with iTunes installed.

  5. Click on your device under Devices on the iTunes sidebar.
  6. Alt-Click (Windows) the Restore button.
  7. Select the IPSW file in the dialog.
  8. Follow all prompts.
  9. If the restore completes, proceed to the next section. If the restore apparently fails because of an error 1014 or 1015, this is normal. Follow the rest of the instructions.
  10. Start TinyUmbrella.
  11. On TinyUmbrella's sidebar, right-click on your device and select Exit Recovery.

  1. Open Safari on your device.
  2. Go to http://jailbreakme.com/ on your device.
  3. Tap FREE.
  4. Tap INSTALL.

Jailbreak your device.

Important note: When jailbreaking the device on 3.1.3 you MUST give the 3.1.2 firmware file to redsn0w, not the 3.1.3 firmware file.

  1. Connect your device to a computer with iTunes installed.
  2. Download redsn0w 0.9.3 for Windows.
  3. Open redsn0w and select the IPSW file.
  4. Click Next and select Install Cydia.
  5. Follow the instructions on putting your device into DFU mode.
  6. Sit back and relax while your device is jailbroken.

Jailbreak your device.

Important note: When jailbreaking the device on 3.1.3 you MUST give the 3.1.2 firmware file to redsn0w, not the 3.1.3 firmware file.

  1. Connect your device to a computer with iTunes installed.
  2. Download redsn0w 0.9.3 for Mac.
  3. Open redsn0w and select the IPSW file.
  4. Click Next and select Install Cydia.
  5. Follow the instructions on putting your device into DFU mode.
  6. Sit back and relax while your device is jailbroken.

Jailbreak your device.

  1. Connect your device to a computer with iTunes installed.
  2. Download greenpois0n version rc6 for Windows.
  3. Open greenpois0n and click Prepare to Jailbreak (DFU).
  4. Follow the instructions on putting your device into DFU mode.
  5. Click Jailbreak.
  6. Sit back and relax while your device is jailbroken.
  7. After the device boots, find the Loader app that was installed and open it.
  8. Tap Cydia an then Install Cydia.
  9. After the device reboots, Cydia will be installed and the jailbreak is complete.

Jailbreak your device.

  1. Connect your device to a computer with iTunes installed.
  2. Download greenpois0n version rc6 for Mac.
  3. Open greenpois0n and click Prepare to Jailbreak (DFU).
  4. Follow the instructions on putting your device into DFU mode.
  5. Click Jailbreak.
  6. Sit back and relax while your device is jailbroken.
  7. After the device boots, find the Loader app that was installed and open it.
  8. Tap Cydia an then Install Cydia.
  9. After the device reboots, Cydia will be installed and the jailbreak is complete.

Upgrade your iPhone 3G's baseband firmware.

We must upgrade your iPhone 3G's cellular radio firmware to the version in iOS 4.0.2 in order to unlock it.

  1. Download iPhone1,2_4.0.2_8A400_Restore.ipsw.
  2. Connect your device to a computer with iTunes installed.
  3. Start iTunes on the computer.
  4. Click on your device under Devices on the iTunes sidebar.
  5. Hold down the key on the keyboard and click the Restore button.
  6. Wait until iTunes has finished restoring your iPhone 3G to iOS 4.0.2

Jailbreak your device.

  1. Connect your device to a computer with iTunes installed.
  2. Download .
  3. Open PwnageTool and select Expert Mode.
  4. Select the device.
  5. Browse for the IPSW file.
  6. Select Build.
  7. Wait for the firmware file to finish building.
  8. Follow the instructions to enter DFU mode.
  9. Once in DFU close PwnageTool and start iTunes.
  10. Start iTunes on the computer.
  11. Click on your device under Devices on the iTunes sidebar.
  12. In iTunes hold the Option key and click Restore.
  13. Select the custom IPSW file PwnageTool created.
  14. Sit back and relax while iTunes jailbreaks your iPhone.

Jailbreak and unlock your device.

  1. Connect your device to a computer with iTunes installed.
  2. Download PwnageTool 3.1.5.
  3. Download the 3.9 and 4.6 bootloader files for the iPhone's cellular radio.
  4. Open PwnageTool and select Expert Mode.
  5. Select the original iPhone.
  6. Wait for the spinner on the bottom right to stop.
  7. Browse for the IPSW file.
  8. Select General Settings
  9. Check Activate the phone and Enable baseband update.
  10. Click the blue arrow.
  11. Select Bootneuter Settings.
  12. Check Neuter bootloader, Unlock baseband, and Auto delete BootNeuter.app.
  13. Click the blue arrow.
  14. Select Build.
  15. Click the blue arrow.
  16. Put in the 3.9 and 4.6 bootloader files you downloaded earlier when prompted.
  17. Wait for the firmware file to finish building.
  18. Follow the instructions to enter DFU mode.
  19. Once in DFU close PwnageTool and start iTunes.
  20. Start iTunes on the computer.
  21. Click on your device under Devices on the iTunes sidebar.
  22. In iTunes hold the Option key and click Restore.
  23. Select the custom IPSW file PwnageTool created.
  24. Sit back and relax while iTunes jailbreaks and unlocks your iPhone. Your phone will boot into BootNeuter first to unlock before rebooting back into the normal mode.

Jailbreak your device.

  1. Connect your device to a computer with iTunes installed.
  2. Download
  3. Open sn0wbreeze and click OK
  4. Click the blue arrow.
  5. Select Expert mode and click the blue arrow.
  6. Browse for the IPSW file.
  7. Select Build Package and click the blue arrow.
  8. Wait for the firmware file to finish building.
  9. Follow the instructions to enter DFU mode.
  10. Once in DFU close sn0wbreeze and start iTunes.
  11. Start iTunes on the computer.
  12. Click on your device under Devices on the iTunes sidebar.
  13. In iTunes hold the Alt key and click Restore.
  14. Select the custom IPSW file sn0wbreeze created.
  15. Wait for the restore to complete.

Jailbreak and unlock your device.

  1. Connect your device to a computer with iTunes installed.
  2. Download
  3. Open sn0wbreeze and click OK
  4. Click the blue arrow.
  5. Select Expert mode and click the blue arrow.
  6. Browse for the IPSW file.
  7. Select Custom Packages and click the blue arrow.
  8. Click Download Packages and select the repo666.ultrasn0w.com link and hit Refresh.
  9. Now select the ultrasn0w package and click Download.
  10. Click the blue arrow.
  11. Select whatever options you want for the boot logos and click the blue arrow.
  12. Select Build Package and click the blue arrow.
  13. Wait for the firmware file to finish building.
  14. Follow the instructions to enter DFU mode.
  15. Once in DFU close sn0wbreeze and start iTunes.
  16. Start iTunes on the computer.
  17. Click on your device under Devices on the iTunes sidebar.
  18. In iTunes hold the Alt key and click Restore.
  19. Select the custom IPSW file sn0wbreeze created.
  20. Once the restore is complete open the ultrasnow icon on your device to unlock.

Unlock your device.

  1. Open Settings from the Home screen.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Tap Auto-Lock.
  4. Tap Never.
  5. Push the home button to go back to the homescreen on your device.
  6. Tap the Cydia icon on your device. Go through any initial setup and wait for it to finish updating and downloading packages.
  7. Tap Search in Cydia.
  8. Type BootNeuter into the search bar.
  9. Tap BootNeuter from BigBoss.
  10. Tap Install on the top right.
  11. Tap Confirm on the top right.
  12. Push the home button to go back to the homescreen and then open BootNeuter.
  13. After BootNeuter has determined your current settings, select Neuter and Unlock.
  14. Tap Flash on the top-right corner and do not disturb your device until the process is finished.

Unlock your device.

  1. Tap the Cydia icon on your device. Go through any initial setup and wait for it to finish updating and downloading packages.
  2. Tap Search in Cydia.
  3. Type ultrasn0w into the search bar.
  4. Tap ultrasn0w from repo666.ultrasn0w.com.
  5. Tap Install on the top right.
  6. Tap Confirm on the top right.
  7. Tap the Reboot button that appears after installation.

Jailbreak your device.

Warning: This jailbreak is tethered! That means you must use a special program on your computer to boot or reboot your device. Your device may need to be rebooted if you "slide to power off", it runs out of batteries or it completely crashes.

  1. Download .
  2. Open redsn0w and select the IPSW file.
  3. Click Next and select Install Cydia.
  4. Follow the instructions on putting your device into DFU mode.
  5. Sit back and relax while your device is jailbroken.
  6. To boot the device in the future, use the Just boot tethered now option on redsn0w.
